WILLAMETTE MASTER CHORUS RETURNS TO THE MT. ANGEL ABBEY
The Willamette Master Chorus will return to the Mount Angel Abbey to perform its final concert of the 2007-08 season.
“Music For An Abbey” will feature choral music that spans four centuries of sacred music history. The one unifying factor
is that all the music presented demands a large space with an excellent acoustic. For this reason the Master Chorus has
selected the Mount Angel Abbey as the venue for this concert. In addition, the Abbey’s spectacular pipe organ
along with
the Master Chorus orchestra, will provide the accompaniment for three settings of the Song of Mary, or "Magnificat."
Additional pieces will be performed by composers Arvo Pärt,
William Ferris, Eric Whitacre, and Bob Kauflin. The venue is located 18 miles northeast of Salem on Hwy 214. The Mt. Angel Abbey
sits high above the town of Mt. Angel on a 300 foot bluff. Plan to arrive early and stay late to enjoy the views and the
peaceful surroundings.
